Why was published without any translations?

@crouse, I agree with you.

@volodiam, given the rush in which this magazine was made, translators were given the magazine one day before it was published. But we hope to have some translations soon. And for the next magazines for translations to be made available at launch time.

...is just the beggining of august few days for translations would not have been cut-throat for the project... simply no other comments...

Guys, expect great things to come, I am getting married this next month, the 5th which is the first saturday of september, so I guess I won't have time to do much, but we will in fact better the magazine in the september edition, that is for sure.

Great newsletter. However, I would like to add kdenlive as another possibility in the Video Editor Reviews.
I'm not an advanced video editor, but I've found kdenlive to be pretty stable/usable, and contain many of the features that were in the other reviewed editors. i.e. Easy firewire capture, transitions, nice qt4 interface, lots of video formats, effects, etc.
Any comments would be appreciated; i.e. is kdenlive unstable, lack some things the other video editors have, etc. What makes cinelerra better/worse?

@1LordAnubis, in fact I was surprised kdenlive is not included in there, we should make a part2 with kdenlive.

+1 for community involvement. I do enjoy the archlinux publications. The video editing review was very enlightening, given the recent screencast lecture I saw regarding the state of Linux software (that "Desktop Linux Sucks, And What We Can Do About It" vid). Good to see that the one valid argument I could find in his lecture is being acted on with such vigor.

Awesome effort to all those involved.

@1LordAnubis, kensai: kdenlive wasn't included because I usually review four software titles at a time. In fact there are several other video editors on my list to review at some point in time. I just did the first four on the list this time

A couple of minor issues with the HTML version:

* The background is not set to white. This may came as a surprise, but not every browser is set with white as default background color. Nothing important but it kinda breaks the Arch color scheme if you use another default such as grey.

* The screenshots of avidemux et al, with "height=25% width=25%" are shown in Konqueror totally distorted (a lot longer than wide) even at 1280 width resolution. I don't know what the % refers to, but I suspect that Konqueror interprets to only use 25% of the content column width.

I noticed we were switching to SVN. Why not use GIT? I watched this video and can't see a reason not to. Happy programming.

1) It is only the [community] repo catching up to what [core] and [extra] did ages ago
2) We have a working SVN solution for managing the repos but not a working GIT one.

First. ALM is damn good idea! cheers

Me and the archlinux.fr community are completed the translation of ALM into french (with Ghost1227 and Kensai agreements, I thank them).

I wonder how to grab the PDF source even if it's beta, I don't care, just praticising firstly. Thanks in advance

gyo, well, I just made #archlinux-magazine on irc.freenode.net available. It was announced at my site kensai.org . Soon, I will be announcing other collaborative ways for the Magazine that will make it easier for translators to read as the magazine is being made and translate what has been marked as completed. But that I will announce later this week or early next week. Keep an eye on my site.
