After I upgraded from kernel 2.6.30.1-1 to 2.6.30.4-1 I can't use my wireless. The strangest thing is that my wireless card does not even appear anymore when I run 'lspci' neither does the device when I run 'ifconfig'. My card is a Broadcom (don't ask me the model, I can't lspci it) and I'm using the b43 driver. Until a couple of hours ago everything was working fine!
I looked at /var/log/everything.log and it said somewhere to update the firmware. I followed the steps listed here:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_Setup#b43
but still no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Alex
EDIT:
Forgot to mention that when I run
dmesg | grep Broadcomthe card appears as "loaded successfully" or something like that.

Hello alexmatos!
Can you see this card in the output of iwconfig ? The card will seem in the ifconfig after you did iwconfig wlan0/ath0 up. If this doesn't work, can it work from livecd/other distribution?

Hi djszapi, thanks for your response!
The card doesn't show in 'iwconfig'. 'ifconfig wlan0 up' doesn't work. I tested now with a Ubuntu 8.04 liveCD and the card doesn't show up in 'ifconfig' either! Damn, it probably is a hardware problem. Is there anything I can do about it?

I found this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1035518
which is exactly the problem I'm having, and I also have a HP Compac Presario. I see that there's a new BIOS release in HP's website for my model, maybe I should try to upgrade to it.
