Mounting an External HDD through eSata

The same externalhdd worked fine through USB, but when I use my new esata cable it hangs. I see it under 'Computer' but it doesn't mount.

Re: Mounting an External HDD through eSata

Did you put an entry for it in your /etc/fstab ?

Re: Mounting an External HDD through eSata

yes, my (edited for the forum) fstab looks like:

#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system>        <dir>         <type>    <options>          <dump> <pass>
none                   /dev/pts      devpts    defaults            0      0
none                   /dev/shm      tmpfs     defaults            0      0

#/dev/cdrom             /media/cd   auto    ro,user,noauto,unhide   0      0
#/dev/dvd               /media/dvd  auto    ro,user,noauto,unhide   0      0
#/dev/fd0               /media/fl   auto    user,noauto             0      0

UUID=052b681d-41cc-4d33-9c9a-28e2f3aaf8b9 swap swap defaults 0 0
UUID=e9dba36b-f194-4f01-bafa-607b9f257fcf / ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=108,devmode=664 0 0
EXTERNAL HDD==>  UUID=92309FAD309F96B7 /mnt ntfs-3g defaults 0 0

the files in the hdd appear in /mnt/, but I can't access them, it gets a permission error. it doesn't even let me change permissions
