I have been following the Arch Linux Beginners Guide using VMware Workstation. Everything has been working fine except the point where I couldn't get the hardware abstraction layer started or X started.
I tried the things in this other thread that seemed similar.

let's have a look at the daemon array of your rc.conf then
also, any error messages when you start the daemon manually?

Not really sure if I understand what you are asking because of my limited knowledge of linux. But here is what I think you are talking about.
DAEMONS = (syslog-ng hal network netfs crond kdm)
What do you mean by manually starting daemons manually, if you mean starting
Xorg, then I get an error.
It say something about Fatal Screen Error: No Screens found
and says
xf86CloseConsole: KDSETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor
xf86CloseConsole: VT_GETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor

Hello Phoenix89!
Maybe toad thought for that, if you boot your system in init level 3, and then manually starting /etc/rc.d/hal start/restart.
Is there any error output in syslog -> /var/log/messages.log ?

So I went through all the steps over again, and install VMware Tools and I was able to get what I believe is KDE desktop but now I can't change tty and it won't accept any user input keyboard or mouse movement.

Perhaps it is the order of the Daemons in rc.conf.........................
