@ SpeedVin: I would say that the xmonad-contrib http://xmonad.org/xmonad-docs/xmonad-contrib/ is the main advantage. It has loads of extensions for xmonad (my most favorite one is IM grid layout). Maybe Awesome 3 also can be configured as heavily as xmonad, but xmonad is according to my experience a lot more stable (and I hate lua too ) If you know Haskell well you can configure pretty much everything in xmonad. The only "disadvantage" may be for someone that is has ghc as a dependency, but if you like the xmonad defaults you dont need it.
I am leaving to France in 1,5 hour so sorry if I dont manage to respond to any other questions you might have
No problem thanks for your answers

Those are 'tagged' desktops, a feature of most tiling window managers.

This a screenshot made by anrxc. As far as I know, he uses Awesome WM: an advanced tiling window manager. Check out his website for configs and stuff: I got my colour scheme inspiration from him

XMonad and awesome can decorate windows...maybe some others as well, don't know..

@lifeafter2am and SpeedVin
the configs link in my signature is updated weekly via a cron job. you'll find both my current xmonad.hs and Xdefaults there.
lifeafter2am, i had to do some funky stuff to get my imlayout to treat gajim's different windows properly, i wrote about it here (the same site showing in the screenshot) if you're interested. the only difference is i hadn't added the ReflectX bit to it at that time, but you can see how that's done in my actual xmonad.hs.
SpeedVin, i have no idea why that Xdefaults looks different on your screen than mine (though, i've heard the same complaint from another user on IRC ). it's the exact one in use on my system right now.

PekWM is a king among non-tiling window managers (IMO). I use it the same way I did with OpenBox (my second favorite WM) - I ignore advanced options of it, such as pseudo-tiling windows management.
Things that I really like in it are:
- pixmap-based themes, they are easy and fun to make (that's why I'm making so many ports lately)
- simple config files syntax
- light and fast (comparable to OpenBox and much more responsive than Fluxbox)
Thing that suck so far is bad xcompmgr support.
PekWM shows big advantage of Arch Linux - quick availability of fresh packages. This WM is one of those things I want to have as fresh as possible (but still I use regular release, not GIT).

uzbl is nice, i've lacked the patience to play w/it and have been using conkeror.
i'll have to give it a shot again. since it does tab .. tabs are a must for me.. i have atleast 9 open at one time.
@weakhead
gotta agree w/you on pekwm.. i really think out of *box type WM's it's a win..
I <3 PekWM + tint2 + stalonetray + conky
not as much as <3 WMii-hg + conky-cli

I searched for it but no luck
But there's a python script

Do any of the tiling window managers support true type fonts? I recently tried Scrotwm but, like Dwm, it doesn't have ttf support and I want my terminal and bar to have the same font.

And OF COURSE it runs XMonad!

Mind if I peek at your Xmonad and (dzen?) configs? Been looking to try it out for some time now and your setup looks mighty sexy. If not, no worries. Love the desk.
