Hi,
I've been trying to install Arch on my laptop and I am having some trouble. This is a HP G60 101CA laptop and I was able to install just fine with the x86_64 version of 2009.02 but I never ended up using it and eventually deleted the partition. I would like to try again.
The problem I am having right now is that I boot from the cd but it doesn't even get to the grub boot menu. It hangs at loading stage 2 ..
Exactly like that... with 2 dots following the stage 2. I tried the x86_64 netinstall and regular boot disk. Then I tried the 686 regular disc and that gave me the same results. For the record, I am trying to install from a Memorex Ultra Speed CD-RW (24x) disc burned at 16x. I tried with 2 seperate disc and had no luck. Is it possible that I would need to use a different type of disc for this operation? I also tried installing from a usb key but that didn't work out either. Didn't seem like it would recognize the boot device at all. That's not the point, I want to be able to do it from a cd. I don't want to waste a cd on this if it is not likely going to work.
Any known issues like this for the new images?
Thanks.

I believe that I have found the problem. I tried burning the same disc on another computer and I came up with the same results. The funny thing was that I tried a regular CD-R and it died at 96%. Must have been a bad disc because the second try worked fine and I can now boot to arch.
