anyone has this problem after lastest upgrade of packages?
berseker@acerone ~ $ xbmc
/usr/bin/xbmc: line 8: 21865 Segmentation fault python /usr/share/xbmc/FEH.py "$@"
I can by the way start xbmc directly from /usr/share/xbmc.bin

Ok ladies and gents, BIG update in -r22052:
- updated in-tree ffmpeg (ffmpeg svn revision 19581), which means we don't need ffmpeg-svn from AUR anymore.
- enabled VDPAU rendering on MPEG2 material (DVDs)
- working overlay subtitles (sponsored by voddler.com )
- pacman 3.3 is out, so we have seperate build/package hooks now, which means we don't need sudo / --asroot anymore
NOTE: This PKGBUILD was only tested with pacman 3.3 (on three machines though). everyone is urged to upgrade pacman!

Made a complete re-install of my system with fresh xbmc-svn
I can't play 720p and 1080p videos (wmv) on my p4 3.0HT with xbmc, ultra slow performance. at windows and linux (vlc or mplayer) they work fine.
Libjpeg is still slow
Goom causes a segfault after 5 seconds
While playing video it jumps almost 1h of video in 1 second
stock xbmc works better for me... I won't try xbmc-svn again... it's useless on my system.

I'm going to give a try (hopefully) tonight when i get home from work - Was running into issues getting things to compile with the older version of pacman (I'm not experienced enough to get in there and make things work when they aren't halfway straight forward).
I've been running XBMC under Ubuntu as of late, but would really like ultimately to get it working under Arch - hopefully I'll be at that point soon!

Thanks, pacman errors (as of you need to be root to configure xbmc if using the nvidia driver blob) should be gone now.

Upgraded two boxes w/most recent version and all went fine re: the build. Tested Music Player, MythTV frontend and MythBox. Music Player and MythTV play fine. MythBox crashes on recordings only (works fine w/LiveTV). I'm not sure where the issue comes from XBMC or MythBox? I'll do some log checking and googling to see what I can come up with.
BTW, a big thanks for this package, I didn't think I'd ever move from MythTV but XBMC has the lions share of viewing these days w/Myth doing the work in the background (recordings).

Wait until the infamous unified pvr branch is ready

Is that still going to be a long ways off? or is it getting halfway close?

It's anywhere between rubbish and usable You could give it a try, but i doubt it'll make it into xbmc 9.10 (though you never know). I don't have the equipment, so i never touched it so far...

Thanks for providing this package!
I'm using an M3N78-EM motherboard with a GeForce 8300 IGP and had LOTS of trouble getting VDPAU to work without stuttering. What finally fixed it was an upgrade to the latest BIOS. Now it's working really smooth
Just wanted to share since it's a pretty common motherboard, and more people could be experiencing the same problem...

Hi DocentDAMP,
i'm running the same motherboard on my xbmc box (together with an X2 4850e). It runs great on my old bios since that FSAA bug got fixed in xbmc - what's your new BIOS revision?

Hi there!
I built and installed AUR package svn 22052-1, the only problem is: I cannot find it anywhere on my hdd. I did locate this though:
/var/lib/pacman/local/xbmc-svn-22052-1
/var/lib/pacman/local/xbmc-svn-22052-1/depends
/var/lib/pacman/local/xbmc-svn-22052-1/desc
/var/lib/pacman/local/xbmc-svn-22052-1/files
/var/lib/pacman/local/xbmc-svn-22052-1/install
That's it. Not in /usr/bin or something similiar. So, I cannot start it. Should I rebuild the package or something? Did I miss something?

How did you build and install it? Fetch the tarball, build with makepkg and install with pacman manually? Or through yaourt? If you installed the package correctly, you can check its contents by typing out "pacman -Ql xbmc-svn".

By the way, I edited the PKGBUILD and installed revision 22126 instead of 22052, because the devs in that revision had improved the tmbd scraper (movie plot was missing earlier). Maybe I was being stupid not just updating that file.
Noticed YouTube videos didn't work anymore, so I thought maybe the updated internal ffmpeg had problems with flash videos (or do they stream h264?). The GameTrailers plugin outputs some Python errors, could it be a new bug in the internal Python interpreter?
I guess what I'd like to know is if any 22052 (current xbmc-svn version) users also are unable to use the YouTube plugin now.

I rebuilt it. Works now. Dunno what happened the first time.

eirik: I'm using a lot of video streaming plugins (though not youtube) - and they work great with current revision. Could you check your logfile or try some other streaming plugins? The YT plugin always was a bit buggy on my side - at least when i was on 64bit Arch (which i see you use as well).

haggy,
My new bios revision is 0604, the old one was 0511. I'm using a BE-2350 CPU and 2GB of DDR2-800 memory.

Any update on the libjpeg7 slowdown issue? And thanks for all the amazing work Haggy! It's greatly appreciated.
Offline
Thanks for the kind words - no update so far, sorry. I'm fiddling with the source code to enable xbmc's shipped libjpeg (6) and circumvent the Arch one - no success so far though

So now looks like it won't work with the latest nvidia drivers..... Anyone tried with the nvidia-beta?
Offline
I'm on nvidia-beta (190.25) and it works fine. Do you get immediate segfaults directly after startup? Tried moving ~/.xbmc out of the way?
Offline
yeap, I see for a few seconds the XBMC splash screen and it goes back to the desktop.... I'm going to try to move my .xbmc to see...
Offline
without my .xbmc it's weird, I get the same error but when it goes back to KDE I get a weird resolution and I have to reboot my system.....
Offline
OK, then i guess it's the latest nvidia driver. Could you please try 190.25 (nvidia-beta) ? I doubt the old revision (220xx) worked with the new driver - or did it?
