I built a new machine, 2 500G hard drives as Sata1 & Sata2. Put windows xp on, then installed arch to the second drive. Got it all set up in my test area, it works fine, put on the software I want, it works fine, I update arch, rebooted and worked in windows awhile, shut it down, unhooked it, put it where it belongs, turned it on, and I get
GRUB _ (the _ flashes)........
It won't accept any input from the keyboard.
All drive cables are tight, no LVM or fancy stuff. I suppose I go in with a livecd to see what I can do, but I have no idea what I'm even looking for.

Ok, thanks to dbc and this thread

I looked at everything again and realized that my digital audio recorder was plugged in when I rebooted after the move. When it didn't boot, I noticed this and removed it before the second boot. The recorder apparently was tried by the system as a usb drive to boot from, and then when it couldn't boot it decided to change the order of my hard drives and to boot from the wrong one. Into the bios, change the order, save reboot, things are ok.
Motherboard on that beast is an Asus as well, an M4A79T Deluxe
