Hi guys,
I'm a n00b at Arch (obviously) and can't for the life of my figure out how to get sound working. I have a vanilla install with KDE 4.3, so I need ALSA working so Phonon will be happy. I know my card is supported and works, the problem is getting it setup. This is on a Eee PC netbook model no. 900HA. To the best of my knowledge, the built in sound card uses the snd-hda-intel driver, but here is the lspci output for you guys to check in case I'm wrong:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
Thanks,
Craig
PS: Yes, I did consult the ALSA wiki page, but that didn't do anything to help me.
Any help much appreciated!

Hmm... did you add your user to the audio group and unmute all channels using amixer or alsamixer?
Btw, welcome to the forums!

Wow, I am stuuuupid. That did it (after logging out and back in, of course)! Thanks.
Oh, another small problem. I use kdm and the inittab is set to runlevel 5. After I log out, I am dropped to a tty instead of kdm, even though kdm is still 'running' (ps aux | grep kdm). Anyway to fix that?

Can I see what you have in your inittab?
Also if I had to ask, can you please remove the "i'm stupid" from the tag? We all make mistakes.

It looks fine to me, but I can only suggest you do these options. Either uncomment the last 4 ttys, reboot and see what happens or try a different Display Manager, because I think with the new KDE packages, there might be some bugs to work out at the moment.

Well enabling those extra ttys didn't seem to help, so I'll just deal with it for now.
Many thanks for the help,
Craig
