Hi,
I have this problem since I have my notebook. Is a sony vaio cs.
After suspend to ram the keyboard does't work.
I've read in other forums that is a general gnu/linux problem, not only arch, and I think is related with the i8042 driver and generally hp pavillions have it.

Yeah, adrianbs, I've never been able to get this fixed myself. There was a bug on this in the Arch bugzilla that ended up patching, evdev that helped some people, but no luck. Have you tried unbinding i8042??:
cat /etc/pm/sleep.d/70input-reset
#!/bin/sh
# Reload the AT keyboard interface
case $1 in
hibernate|suspend)
echo -n "i8042" > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/i8042/unbind
;;
thaw|resume)
echo -n "i8042" > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/i8042/bind
;;
*)
;;
esac
Gotta be executable. Also I read that a bios password can be at fault:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … omments/67
Haven't tried this though.

I've read in other forums that is a general gnu/linux problem, not only arch, and I think is related with the i8042 driver and generally hp pavillions have it.
On my TravelMate the keyboard never worked after suspending (and often on VT switch). Most of the time X reports that device has changed and disables it (xf86-input-evdev driver). I already explained all that in this bug report http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/14046 If you are experiencing the same problem (check your logs) then read on...
The summary is that for a long time I used a pm-utils hook to reset i8042, but that started causing other problems, with XKB etc. Since evdev developers reported this "problem" fixed many times before I just had no other choice but to patch evdev my self. What I do is ugly, but in my conditions acceptable, I use a laptop without other input devices and I build and patch evdev my self, with:

anrxc, have you tried this on the new evdev? Tried to patch on evdev-2.2.3-1 and the patch doesn't match anymore. The patch on evdev-2.2.3-1 needs to be applied, five lines below and I have no idea how to edit a patch.

I used it from 2.2.0 and I patched the new 2.2.4 a few days back...
$ patch -uN xf86-input-evdev-2.2.4/src/evdev.c ./evdev-nodevdisable-220.diff
patching file xf86-input-evdev-2.2.4/src/evdev.c

But let's update the patch, you can find the new patch, and my PKGBUILD for reference, here: http://sysphere.org/~anrxc/local/softwa … put-evdev/
You need to install an RTFM interface.

Looks like my problem has to do with the bios, unfortunately, thinking it does have to do with that password thing. Hopefully this won't take another six months to fix. Do appreciate the effort though, anrxc, many thanks.

I had this issue for almost a year with my Sony CS190. After a clean install, it still exists. So,
After suspending the keyboard doesn't work, and unbinding/binding i8042 only helps touchpad, not keyboard.
EDIT: PS: Keyboard & Touchpad work fine after hibernate.

Well, I finally figured out my problem. Turns out it was the keyboard that was causing the problem. I read not too long ago that legacy USB devices can have problems with the BIOS and hence kernel. Not sure if it was a legacy keyboard but after plugging in a different on, was able to have keyboard functionality back after resuming from sleep. This could possibly be the keyboard too as it was a bargain keyboard I bought.

In xf86-input-evdev version 2.3.1, the problem I had and wrote about earlier was fixed in commit 175af93 (Relax checks when reopening devices). More information in the (now closed) bug report: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/14046
You need to install an RTFM interface.

Hi,
I have this problem with my notebook, too.
It is Toshiba Satelite S 50-A-10R.
Sometimes when I open it and it wakes up my keyboard and touchpad don't work. However, if I put other USB mouse or keyboard it works ?
Can you give me a solution to this problem?

vanjo9800,
First, welcome to Arch Linux. Next.... this is a 4 year old thread, much has changed in that time - kernel versions, the init system, hal has been deprecated, etc.... I am going to close this thread in accordance with our policy
Please feel free to start a new thread and, if you still feel this thread is relevant, link back to this thread using a BBCode url link.
As to your problem, look at the output of journalctl and dmesg for any clues.
