very strange keymap problem with tightvnc and gnome

I just installed Arch (gnome) and got tightvnc working. I can come into a gnome-session just fine, but my keyboard map is all screwed-up.  If I start typing in the vncsession, the output doesn't match up with what I'm typing!

For example, I type: asdf jkl;
It looks like: abfh

Backspace doesn't map to backspace, space bar doesn't map to space bar, etc.

Help smile

yes, only in tightvnc.  local keyboard is fine and ssh'ing into it is fine.

UPDATE: everything works fine if I use xfce and not gnome.  I would prefer gnome though and I have no idea why it's like this... anyone?

Did you try to reinstall gnome or older version from it ?
