Hi,
I just pushed a avidemux-2.5.0-2 in [testing] to fix various problems reported in the bug tracker and forums for the avidemux in [extra]. I am now using a svn snapshots. I believe the following problems are fixed:
-importing an image
-save a video with the ac3 audio codec
-open an *.avi file
-remembering codec settings (xvid) (seems fixed, not really sure how to test)
-remember compression settings (not tested, I can't find the option)
If you use avidemux regularly, please test and report success or failure. I only use avidemux occasionally to split videos.
If you don't want to use the [testing] repo on your system, download the avidemux package and install with 'pacman -U'. There shoudl be no problems as it don't depends on any testing packages.

Using pacman -U was enough ( wget http://mir1.archlinuxfr.org/archlinux/t … pkg.tar.gz http://mir1.archlinuxfr.org/archlinux/t … pkg.tar.gz )
I tried once each feature with extra/avidemux 2.5.0-1, then with testing/avidemux 2.5.0-2 :
- importing an image => ok
- save a video with the ac3 audio codec => ok
- open an *.avi file => ok
- remembering codec settings (xvid) => not sure. I couldn't find what was the bug using extra/avidemux
- remember compression settings => I could set a two pass bitrate into the "Configure" dialog, and setting were still here when returning to that dialog
Many thanks !

Just tried testing 2.5.0-2
MPEG-4 ASP (xvid) now remembers configuration when I change to 1 pass bitrate.
Thanks for sorting this out

I know.;) I'll give avidemux-2.5.1 a good test and will put straight to extra and remove the testing package.

I built it locally, without any patch. It seems OK.
