Hi guys, I'm running into some trouble with the above. I've tried the standard:
ifconfig ath0 up
iwconfig ath0 essid <network_name>
dhcpcd ath0
And starting today after no major changes, it just times out. I've tried it on two different APs.
I tried:
dhcpcd -d ath0
And it returned:
dhcpcd: version 5.0.6 starting
dhcpcd: ath0: executing '/usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks', reason PREINIT
dhcpcd: ath0: executing '/usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks', reason CARRIER
dhcpcd: ath0: rebinding lease of 192.168.1.102
dhcpcd: ath0: sending DHCP_REQUEST (xid 0x72d6a53d), next in 4.13 seconds
dhcpcd: ath0: sending DHCP_REQUEST (xid 0x72d6a53d), next in 7.03 seconds
dhcpcd: ath0: broadcasting for a lease
dhcpcd: ath0: sending DHCP_REQUEST (xid 0x72d6a53d), next in 4.68 seconds
dhcpcd: ath0: sending DHCP_REQUEST (xid 0x72d6a53d), next in 7.44 seconds
dhcpcd: ath0: sending DHCP_REQUEST (xid 0x72d6a53d), next in 16.78 seconds
dhcpcd: ath0: timed out
I've also made sure it was in managed mode, and I've set it to 60 seconds. Seems to happen every time.
I've even tried rmmod and modprobe ath_pci and it still returns the same. I'm out of ideas guys, what do you think?

Have you tried 'wicd' ??

Turns out the place I was trying to connect to's DHCP server was down. I guess it's a lesson in never doubting the possibility that it is in fact not your fault.

When I realize that in fact something that's not working right isn't my fault, it surprises me more than if it was.
My victim you are meant to be
