I upgraded to the latest current postfix (2.1.5-3) but it doesn't work because postalias requires gcc-2.3.5, but we're on gcc.3.4.3-1 now. "Ok," i sez to myself, "I'll compile from source using srcpac." But srcpac tries to download postfix-2.0.19.
I'm lost. I'd like either a back-rev version, a fixed current package, or directions what to try next.
Thanks very much for the effort y'all contribute.

I corrected my postfix library version problem by editting the srcpac PKGBUILD file to point to the latest version, then doing a
"srcpac -Sb postfix"

You should probably run srcpac -Syb postfix. That will update your abs (much the same as pacman -Sy updates your local dbs). Not only that, but srcpac -Syu does a full update and builds the packages that you have installed built *and* the binary packages you don't want built.
Someone needs to write a srcpac man page.

I agree. It would be immensely useful.

srcpac shouldn't be affected by the "opt-or-usr compilation directory matter", I don't think anyone recompiles their packages just so change their directories.
