Hello newbie in trouble. I've just installed arch following the instructions in the beginner section. Everything went fine. Now the system boots up but the login screen doesn't accept my password. Also my mouse is not working. Probably I made a mistake somewher along the line but I cannot even go back to command line because when I reboot I end up at the login screen.
Could anyone give me some direction what to do now.
Thanks a lot,
jmak

Now I figured out where I made the mistake. I misunderstood the instructions and I used the # /usr/bin/passwd command rather than the # passwd username command. How can I go back to the command line to rectify this?
But I still couldn't figure out why my mouse doesn't work.

Hello jmak!
I cannot even go back to command line because when I reboot I end up at the login screen.
You can insert in the grub a '3' number at the end of the boot line on the fly with 'e' (edit) button, and you will be ended a console prompt, and you can set the desired command instead of false one.

The password issue solved. From the login screen ctr+alt+f1 took me to the command line, I could fix the problem.
