Bug with gcc compiler

I saw the below article and was wondering if this was a problem with arch linux as well or not.  I do not see any thing listed in the advisory section so was not sure about this.

So, the latest versions of the Linux kernel, 2.6.27.30 and 2.6.30.5, and for those using old Linux versions, Linux kernel 2.4.37.5, include this universal fix. Of course, you have to get that fix into what you're actually running.

Re: Bug with gcc compiler

I did see that line but in the article it mentioned how other distirbutions were having to release fixes for this even though they were running these kernels.

Re: Bug with gcc compiler

I presume that refers to backporting fixes into older kernels on fixed release distros, which only update their kernel on a 'distro upgrade'.

Arch is rolling release, so if you keep updated, unless you've taken special steps, you should have the latest stable kernel.

Re: Bug with gcc compiler

Since it says that it's fixed in 2.6.30.5 and the latest version on arch is 2.6.30.5, then it's probably not an issue. (if you are actually using the latest kernel on arch)

Re: Bug with gcc compiler

Since using Arch I forget that other distributions rarely update the kernel and thus a fix would be necessary in this case.  I really like the rolling model and plan on sticking with arch.  I only got burnt once and that was with xserver 1.6.  It is a great distribution and I appreciate having fixes all the time rather then having to wait each month like Windows.
