Hi, all.
I've installed pacupdate, to notify me of any updates. I've followed the instructions, here:
http://code.google.com/p/pacupdate/
I can start this manually from the command line, but I'd like to configure this and foget about it.
In order for pacman to track updates for me, do I need to launch it on boot from /etc/rc.conf or something?
Can anyone help?
Cheers,
Chris.

why not configure cron (anacron, etc.) scheduller?

I'm wondering whether pacupdater can do it automatically. Not much point in automatic update notification if I the user has to start the tool each time; may as well just update manually.
Cron is a possibility, if there isn't a built-in pacupdate method.
Thanks,
Chris.

You can configure pacupdate in "Autostart" application from gnome and kde desktops. In gnome, go to System -> Preferences -> Application at login and put "pacupdate" here.

Many thanks. I'm an xfce user, but should be able to do that.
Cheers,
Chris.
