I have two issues with Firefox Shiretoko that have come up.
The first is that every time I attempt to update my extensions Firefox gives an error message reading:
Could not download from [download URL] because: download error -228
Searching for this error message I found the following page and have checked that I do infact have a sizable cache, 50 MB. I cleared the cache and even extended it to 100 MB. Also I removed the extension files that might have become corrupted and lead to odd behavior.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_ins … _-_Firefox
Furthermore I've started recently having the odd issue that I cannot view Youtube video, it always attempts to download but never starts playing or gives any indication that anything has downloaded. I doubt that this is at all related and it isn't that annoying as I rarely use Youtube in the first place. Oddly, Hulu video works fine.
I am using the latest version of firefox shiretoko from the main repos, 3.5.2
Thanks.

This is a totally wild guess, but are you using 64-bit? Sometimes that screws things up...

I am running 64-bit but I feel that it ought to be unrelated.
Though I note that running firefox from a terminal gives an ELFCLASS error for the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
I doubt that this is somehow related.

I had a similar problem that gets fixed by adding this line to /etc/hosts:
64.50.236.214 releases.mozilla.org
as told in the wiki

Thanks, I didn't think to look at that page since this behavior is new and when I looked at that last I didn't have the problem.
