simon, a new open-source speach recognition project

Just found this project called "simon".
Looks ambitious, but cool.

Yay for open-source! Until you hit needing to install the HTK that is. I know, I shouldn't be a debbie-downer, but there's just something about the HTK license that bugs me.

Edit: Actually, I forget if the HTK is open-source. It may be, but at the same time not GPL'd, or some such...

I just read through the license agreement. I am not a lawyer, but it sounds a little like the GPL what with "do not remove copyright notices" and "may not be sublicensed under any circumstances"
anti-GPL is the part about "do not distribute in any form"
but I think it's only fair. and after all, they wouldn't _have to_ release it as open source anyway...

I will definitely have a look at this simon thingie

cheers
Barde
