Songbird has no sound

I got songbird from AUR on my office box, it works.
I tried to do the same on my home box (which has almost the exact same setup) however I can't get a peep out of songbird.

Whenever I try to play a file or a shoutcast stream, it works, the progress bar at the bottom is moving, if it's a file it displays the correct track length and everything else, except outputting the sound.

I have hal, dbus running. I have gstreamer and the plugins installed (the entire gstreamer0.10-plugins group).
There is no mention of songbird or gstreamer in /var/log. (i tried grep -ir gstreamer /var/log and same with songbird).

I tried testing gstreamer with gstreamer-properties -> Test button (which plays a long beep), it works properly.
I also succesfully played the files with other players.

I've tried messing with the songbird about:config mediacore settings, there are limited options and nothing happened.

Any ideas?

Re: Songbird has no sound

Hi!

It has also happened to me for a custom compiled version or the buld that is distributed.
No errors, no crashes, no movement of the progression bar, nothing.

And it also happened with banshee and another gstreamer player.
Strangely Amarok works with a gstreamer phonon.

I don't see what is the problem.

Actually I was using pulseaudio, but switching to also solved the problem.
