I re-installed arch cuz I thought my install was weird after I moved my hard drive from my Inspiron 1501 to this (OCZNBIS15DIYA if you care to google). But apparently it's not my install.
Problems:
1. wicd can't find my hidden ESSID, but I'm not yet sure if it's the driver. Although it *is* a known wicd bug.
2. when my mouse or keyboard is inactive for about a minute, stuff on screen "pauses". How do I fix that?
3. edge scroll doesn't work (2 finger does, but it's ridiculously hard for me to do), but my touchpad is really sensitive
Other than that, I haven't noticed any other problems. Which is really really good. Any ideas on problems 2 and 3?

2 No idea
3 try adding
Option "SHMConfig" "true"
Option "VertEdgeScroll" "true"
to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf in the Section"InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse0"
There should be an option setting for touchpad speed as well, but I do not use it, so I do not have it handy.
I keep getting distracted from my webserver project...
huh? oooh... shiny!

I did the equivalent in 11-x11-synaptics.fdi (after disabling hotplugging) and nothing. It might have something to do with the fact that it's an Elantech touchpad.
ETA: ok, disabling hotplugging is bad. It makes the touchpad and keyboard not work at all.
ETA2: The vertical scroll works in linux mint (I was fixing things with the livecd). Is there a way I can compare the settings and figure out what's going on?
ETA3: I fixed #2 by uninstalling the open source driver and installing the nvidia package.
