Laptop LCD brightness uncontrollable.

Hello, Gnome says it cannot get the laptop's brightness. I looked around on the wiki but couldn't find a solution. Does anyone have a solution, or know why it's not working. Buttons don't work either. I'm using an Acer 7720.

Personally, I'd rather be back in Hobbiton.

Re: Laptop LCD brightness uncontrollable.

Hi there! I have the same problem with my Acer 5530 too in 2.6.30 kernel. Brightness freezes in lowest level and Fn-keys don't change it! (it restores only after reinserting battery smile )
According to this bugreports:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13121
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13955
i'm concluding that the problem is in the kernel (on in acer smile ). You have to wait new kernel patch (or apply debug patches in those bugreports), or downgrade to 2.6.29  just as i did wink

Re: Laptop LCD brightness uncontrollable.

I recently started having a similar problem on an HP DV6000. I cannot control brightness like I was able to before, and laptop-mode-tools no longer adjusts it.
