eclim problems

Hi,

I tried to install eclim from AUR, but I had some problems:
At first the EclimHome vim variable was not set, and an error was shown when running vim:

Error detected while processing /usr/share/vim/eclim/autoload/eclim.vim:

E121: Undefined variable: g:EclimHome

E121: Undefined variable: g:EclimHome

I tried to fix it using a piece of code from function GetEclimHome in the file above: let g:EclimHome = eclim#util#Glob('$ECLIM_ECLIPSE_HOME/plugins/org.eclim_*')

Afterwards I tried to run eclimd as user, and ping it from vim with :PingEclim. connection was refused, and eclimd was printed out errors about permissin denies. It seems, that it wanted to create a file in /usr/share.

Is the eclimd supposed to be run as root? It seems a little bit odd, since it won't load my configurations. Are there any fixes to this? How do you guys run eclim? ... ~40 people already voted for it.
I think I'm going to stick to the official installer for now.
