i was about to setup the usb stick and then i noticed something when i ran the hotplug deamon.
i have already inserted the usb-storage module to the kernel, then i start hotplug with
/etc/rc.d/hotplug start
and this is what i get
can't load module snd-cs4232
missing kernel or user mode driver snd-cs4232
... can't load module snd-cs4232
missing kernel or user mode driver snd-cs4232
... can't load module snd-wavefront
missing kernel or user mode driver snd-wavefront
... can't load module snd-wavefront
missing kernel or user mode driver snd-wavefront
mount: unknown filesystem type 'usbdevfs'
umount: /proc/bus/usb: not mounted
which is weird because i dont have that sound card. it is related to an isa sound card, and well i dont have it. i run arch linux on other computers and it works perfect. but not in this one.
I also noted that sometimes packages are installed improperly. sometimes i get errors when i run programs related to let's say, gcc. i reinstall gcc (and i'm sure i reinstall and that i had it before) and then it works. it seems to me that sometimes there is a conflict with a system installation and some programs are installed with problems. then you reinstall them and they work correctly. the only solution sometimes is to choose any program at random and reinstall it and hope it works. would that be the case here?

you can try and add those to hotplug's blacklist.. it's located in /etc/hotplug/blacklist
