Hello,
Trying to install KDE but I cannot figure out what packages are just KDE. I don't need all of the "K" software (Kopete etc). What packages do I need? Does a base install (pacman -S kdebase-workspace) install all of that stuff or can I use pacman -S kde?
Thanks for the help on such a simple question

What exactly do you mean by "all of that stuff" and "just KDE"? I don't think this is a question of either/or, but rather more or less (i.e., a spectrum from bare workspace to a full suite of applications).
I'd recommend consulting the following wiki page:

Try installing the group kdebase, it will only install the essentials like Plasma, Dolphin, Konsole, Konqueror, and Kwrite.

I'm sorry about the somewhat confusing wording on that question. Typing from a N800 doesn't help..but thanks doorknob. That is what I needed to know. I have a weird thing about only installing the bare essentials. I've been known to do complete new installs because I installed one wrong package. OCD maybe?

For a minimal KDE install kdebase-workspace.

Pierre, is all kdebase-workspace includes just the desktop itself? Meaning plasma and KDE?

The workspace includes only the desktop, plasma, kdm and such. The whole project is called KDE and there are hundereds of programms distributed by the KDE project. So I have no idea what you mean.
