Logging into vmware server

I have installed VMWare Server 2.0.x from AUR.  I cannot figure out how to log into the console.  When running vmware-config.pl the first time I used my normal username as the administrator username.  When I realized it had to be an administrator on the computer, I reran vmware-config.pl and changed the administrator to 'root'.  In both cases it will not accept my password.  I'm stuck and cannot figure out how to proceed from here.

Any suggestions?

Did you try player or workstation too ?

Did you try from aur with this packages too: aur/vmware-server, aur/vmware-server-console ?
