New Arch install on laptop with convoluted partitions

Hi all-
I've started playing around with Arch on a spare laptop after using Ubuntu full time for about 2 years.  I'd like to put Arch on my main laptop while keeping both my Ubuntu and Windows set-ups intact.

The way things are currently laid out are as follows:

sda1,2,3 are windows paritions and recovery partitions

sda4 is a primary partition consisting of sda5 (swap) sda6 (ext ubuntu root)

sdb1 is a primary partition with ext4 /home

What I'd like to do is shrink my ubuntu root partition down to clear up room for an Arch install.  Will that work without screwing my Ubuntu set-up?

Thanks for any help, and sorry if this is confusing.

Re: New Arch install on laptop with convoluted partitions

It should be fine, though it's always a good idea to do a backup in case something goes wrong.
