Hi,
A few weeks ago I did a full system upgrade on my 64-bit arch linux under gnome, and after that I realized that has no more sound. When I got to the sound system configuration, I see some devices and when I press test, I can hear them. Note that, the first entry is HDA Intel and whenever I run amarok, it says it cannot find it and it's using default. Everything was fine before, even when I got this errors.
Also, I can hear songs using mplayer, vlc, and the 64-bit flash.
Before, I even could listen to music using amarok and watch videos on youtube at the same time.
Any idea what can be the problem?

have you tried using a different sound backend?

I can only see gstreamer, and I don't know how to add a new one and which one is the best one.

install xine-lib

Thank you. Installing xine-lib didn't help me. I even tried to install phanon-xine with no luck.
I was finally able to get it working by installing gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.

A few days ago I installed KDE 4.3 as I saw a lot of positive reviews about it. It looks really good, however, Amarok has a problem with it.
It only plays one song and then it stops. I cannot even play the next song manually. I have to restart Amarok to play each song. I'm getting very disappointed with amarok. I can't even forward or rewind my songs anymore.
In gnome, it plays more than a song, but sometimes, it stops playing songs and needs to be restarted. Also, if I rearrange the order of songs in my playlist, it acts just like it was created at first.
I think it's just too much of a problem for a music player. I think I have to try another player.

I had the same thing here. And with Juk as well. I think it's the gstreamer backend. I installed phonon-xine and now all is well

I installed exaile and uninstalled the entire KDE and amarok. Everything seems to be fine with exaile, however, I can't forward or rewind in songs under gnome just like I couldn't using amarok.
