Hi,
few day ago I noticed that numpad (numerical keyboard) stopped working in KDE4. If I hit any number or sign on that numboard, nothing happens..
Though numpad work under other WM (icewm, openbox) and under text consoles (F1-F6).
In KDE control center (or how is it called in english), I have KDE keyboard setting disabled. I have no specification about keyboard listed in xorg.conf (it is very minimalistic).
It used to work but suddenly (after system upgrade some 3 days ago) stopped working.
two relevant packages that were updated lately are:
[2009-08-29 21:34] upgraded xf86-input-evdev (2.2.4-1 -> 2.2.5-1)
[2009-08-29 21:34] upgraded xorg-server (1.6.3-3 -> 1.6.3-4)
so a problem may be with one of those...
If you have any idea, please let me know...

Hate to ask, but did you make sure Num Lock was enabled?
Offline
definitely, this is not the reason

If numlock looks enabled, try pressing it again. I've seen bugs where the numlock LED is wrong, it's pretty common on my downstairs box, actually. It's a Linux issue, not the keyboard. Sounds silly, but try it.

I found a very strange thing. When I hold one of number keys for a period of time, except for 5 and 0, mouse cursor is moving! In the corresponding direction, f.e. 8 moves cursor directly up, 1 to the left and down and so on.....
So....?

Ah, I think I know what's wrong.

This was it!!!
Thank you very much.
I have no idea how this could happen...

I encountered the same problem on Gnome. The same kind of setting has to be disabled on the keyboard settings from the system -> preferences menu.
