Firefox is unable to "save as"

I updated my full system since i needed the new kernel and a new firefox. after this update, when i right click anything and click save as no dialog box comes up. i also cant got to file and "save page as". i orginally thought it was a firefox issue so i deleted me .mozilla and it didnt change anything. i also changed to twm and fluxbox and still doesnt work. this is the error i get in the error console of firefox

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520008 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ALREADY_EXISTS) [nsIDownloadManager.userDownloadsDirectory]" nsresult: "0x80520008 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ALREADY_EXISTS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://global/content/contentAreaUtils.js :: getTargetFile :: line 463" data: no]

also the directory exists and the perms are correct

Re: Firefox is unable to "save as"

since you deleted .mozilla directory, creating a new profile wouldn't solve the problem either.

try reinstalling firefox.

Re: Firefox is unable to "save as"

I had this happen last month, reinstalling gtk2 solved it for me.
I don't remember if i had that error message but those same 2 dialogs wouldn't open.

Hello d3adfool!

Does it work if you downgrade firefox ? Which WM do you use? Did you try with another one ?

Re: Firefox is unable to "save as"

Because of bookmarking bug I downgraded sqlite3 to 3.6.16-1 and it solved this problem for me too.

Re: Firefox is unable to "save as"

The error message you posted seems to be unrelated to Save As problem. Here is workaround (to stop this error message, not Save As problem).

"Component returned failure code: 0x80520008 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ALREADY_EXISTS) [nsIDownloadManager.userDownloadsDirectory]"  nsresult: "0x80520008 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ALREADY_EXISTS)"  location: "JS frame :: chrome://global/content/contentAreaUtils.js :: getTargetFile :: line 463"  data: no]

Re: Firefox is unable to "save as"

I Googled your first error message and came up with this: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_fo … &forumId=1

It appears Firefox shows this error if the file, 'update.locale', doesn't exist. My copy resides at  /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.1/update.locale.

If this is your situation, you might try reinstalling xulrunner. Contents of my update.locale (6 bytes) is, in its entirety,

en-US
