Hello. I'm testing Archlinux to see if it will one day replace my Debian installation.
Things were more or less fine during its short sporadic use, until I upgraded the system and KDE 4.3.0-6 was installed. During start up (startx), it hanged.
Today I tried another "pacman -Syu", and saw KDE 4.3.1 was available. It still hangs in the same way and place. The progress bar says that Akonadi is starting up.
Deleting the KDE configuration files at $HOME does nothing. The blinking caps lock and scroll lock make me think its a kernel panic related problem.
Information from the log files does not seem helpful (I'm posting several because I'm not sure where to look):
Xorg.0.log:
(EE) Failed to load module "fbdev" (module does not exist, 0)
kernel.log:
Sep 3 10:09:47 typhoon kernel: X:3511 freeing invalid memtype f8102000-f8112000 (repeated about 30 times)
Sep 3 10:09:48 typhoon kernel: mtrr: MTRR 2 not used

Sep 3 10:10:12 typhoon kernel: [drm] Loading R200 Microcode

x.org runs fine with other window managers. Does anyone have any idea where I could look next for an explanation?
Thank you.
EDIT: I managed to somehow post this in the wrong forum section, and can't delete it. Would a kind admin please move it to the right section? My apologies.
