There's a story on slashdot about uzbl,
http://linux.slashdot.org/story/09/09/0 … ?art_pos=2
THere are some amusing comments from people who don't get the point of it.

I agree, there was a lot of negativity around it on Slashdot for some reason. They all seem to be fans of bloated browsers. You would think if anything, Slashdot would be the target audience. Appears not heh :\

slashdot and arch have about as much in common as, well, i cant think of an example.
but most of slashdot's users just enjoy trolling.

Slashdot comment posters aren't fans of anything. They're the most jaded crowd you'll find. I sometimes think the Penny Arcade webcomic is drawn from life, using nothing but slashdot comments for source material.
I found these comments kind of odd as well, though. I don't find uzbl to live up to its name, but that doesn't mean I think it's wrong by design, or pointless. (Indeed, I'd love to use it, once it stabilizes a bit more.) It's weird to see a lot of people basically agreeing with you, and still find them wrong

Are we reading the same article? I see mostly positive comments. They are still 90% moronic but positive.

I suppose the comments may have changed a bit since I read the article about a day ago, but they seemed pretty negative to me

meh, slashdot's crowd ain't what it used to be. in fact, i'd say the same for every major tech site out there. Most of them are made up of mostly exclusive, Windows users, OS X users, or at best Ubuntu users new to Linux in any form.

Well, I was wishing for already a while we would be on slashdot at some point. But now we have, and i'm kinda disappointed.
The post seems thrown together quickly (by copying lines from our frontpage?) and doesn't get what uzbl is about, and (dare i say it?) what makes uzbl "revolutionary". Other sources (lwn.net, kmandla) nailed it and it was cool to see they really "got" it, but this looks like some quick marketing talk. But I don't know what the size limit of a post on /. is, so maybe a size limit was a culprit too.
(if the author of the post ever reads this: i mean no disrespect. it says as much about the average content as well)
and yeah.. the comments , the community has gotten worse a bit over time.
But oh well, it's better then nothing, right? google analytics says: 3100 pagehits on saturday, 18600 on sunday. So i have no reason to complain (and i'm not complaining. I just hoped something sweeter ;-))
