Thinkfinger on Lenovo Thinkpad T61p

Hi.

I'm using Arch64 and I'm trying to set up Thinkfinger on my T61p. I've got it working but when I write the command and press Enter it takes several seconds before the "Password or swipe finger:" pops up.
And sometimes I have to scan my finger two times to get authorised.

I have followed the Thinkfinger wiki, but I would ask if some of you could paste your working /etc/pam.d/login and /etc/pam.d/sudo in here?

Same machine, same problem.

just tried that, I don't like using thinkfinger, however insomnia + arch forum + 4:41 AM made me tongue

I have to agree, this 2 sec lag is extremely annoying.

Cheers wink

Re: Thinkfinger on Lenovo Thinkpad T61p

I had these problems, too.

While I never fixed them with thinkfinger, I found that using fprint (PAM module available as pam_fprint in [extra]) reduced the delay significantly.

There was still a delay of a second or two, and the prompt required a fingerprint scan rather than giving you the option to type a password.

(It's been a while since I've used fprint -- I eventually just decided that typing a password was faster -- and even longer since I've used thinkfinger, so your mileage may vary.)
