How to install PPP.2.4.4-60x86_64.pkg package

hello everyone. I will install in my Arch Linux 2008.06 x86_64 operating system my ADSL modem and exactly it's Sagem F@st 800 USB, but I haven't in my system the PPP package installed and I don't know how can I install it. I tried with ' pacman -A ppp-2.4.4-x86_64.pkg ' but there appeared some errors and now I don't what can  do else. Please help me! For every kind of help I thank everyone very much. Regerds and goodbye.

if package "ppp" from arch repo fit your needs:

pacman -Sy ppp

It's really hard to give accurate advice when you say some errors appeared without telling us exactly what those errors are. They're output for a reason.

But to add to arlite's post, if you are trying to install the package from somewhere locally you need (ppp is on the install cd I'm pretty sure so you don't need net access to get it)

pacman -U [file location]

I think -A was an old option that's been depreciated in favor of -U.  Also based on what you wrote - ppp-2.4.4-x86_64.pkg - DON'T uncompress the package, pacman will take care of that itself.
