I wasn't sure where to put this, but I guess it's a newbie question.
I have Arch installed on my USB pen drive. It will therefore be taken around on different computers with different hardware - including video cards.
I figured that I basically had two choices:
1. Install some very general drivers that work with basically anything
2. Install many specialized drivers
For #1 I guess Vesa will do, but it won't give me a lot of eye-candy. I believe alsa is quite general so I won't need anything else for sound?
My question is related to #2. Is it a good idea to have many drivers installed? Can they all be installed at the same time?
I would appreciate if anyone had some advice for me here, not only for video cards, but also for other hardware, like printers.

I dont think mixing two video drivers like nvidia and ATI is recommended. Use the VESA driver and for printers it's also different , most sound cards support ALSA.

Thank you. I guess I can do without printer support if I have to. At least I haven't heard about any generic printer drivers.
