xorg with gtx 280

Hardware: GeForce GTX 280, ViewSonicVX2835wm

I can't get X to display things properly. The resolution seems to be OK (1920x1200) but when I start X with the nvidia drivers (or the beta drivers, or the 180 drivers installed from the nvidia page) everything seems blurry and I can move my mouse a few pixels outside of the screen on each border. I  tried x86_64 and i686, nvidia, nvidia-beta, nv, minimalistic xorg.conf, X -configure, nvidia-xconfig... I don't really think it's a problem with my xorg.conf but rather with the driver as the resolution was correct when using the nv driver. But then switching tags in awesome for example is ultra slow (1-2 seconds lag before the windows are displayed). Here are some xorg.confs I tried anyways.

When I start X without xorg.conf, the resolution seems pretty low, the left border is in the middle of my screen (I can move the mouse to the right border of the screen and it appears on the left border). There are no error messages in Xorg.log.0 either.

Just wanting to see if it works elsewhere, I booted a ubuntu live cd and there I had no problems at all, so it must somehow be possible to configure my system correctly. Sorry that there is not more information, but I don't have any error messages to post. It's just not displaying properly sad
