Hey,
I recently moved to Arch Linux! I was running Gentoo a couple of years, then switched to Kubuntu (kde fan) which was very disappointing and am now trying Arch. So far, I'm quite impressed. To my question...
For a certain application I need postgresql 8.2. Unfortunately, Pacman has only 8.3 in extra. I read the wiki and found out that old PKGBUILDS could be found in the SVN. Unfortunately I could not find postgresql 8.2. On the forums I learned that some point in time ARCH migrated from CVS to SVN, so basically I needed a file in that old CVS (probably postgresql-libs as well). Is there still any way to get to that CVS? Or is there any other way to get those old PKGBUILDS?
Thanks!

Change $pkgver back to 8.2 in the current PKGBUILD, andd see how that goes. You may need to downgrade some deps as well.

Yeah I was afraid it would come down to something like this. But I'll try it next week. Thanks!

Thanks for the link! Hadn't read that wiki page yet. The good news is that I managed to build packages of postgresql-8.2.14 and postgresql-libs-8.2.14 with only changing the filenames and MD5 strings in the PKGBUILDs from the ABS tree. Bad news is that I have "redland" installed which needs at least postgresql 8.3 and in turn is a dependecy for KDE . I guess it is not possible to have multiple versions of postgresql installed ? Does Arch have the concept of slotted installs?
BUT.. I have a laptop with ARCH that runs gnome which does not depend on postgresql. I'm going to try the same steps on that machine...
At least I get a decent lesson of ABS and package management in Arch

Hey,
Did the same on my laptop which had no deep rooted dependency for postgresql 8.3 and it worked!
Thanks for you help!
