unknown video board - can I tell what I have? [SOLVED]

I have a laptop with an unknown video board.  The sticker on the machine simply says, "nvidia quadro."  The nvidia-173xx package doesn't seem to work; when I enter X my screen goes block and keyboard/mouse lock up.  Is there something akin to 'cat /proc/cpu' for a GPU?

Thanks!
