util-linux-ng supersedes e2fsprogs...

Hi Forum

In the process of installing xorg, I have to replace e2fsprogs by util-linux-ng...

The i install xorg the wmanagers, ACPI, etc

When I try to install mc ( midnight commander ) it asks me e2fsprogs again...

Can't i have xorg AND mc  ?

I have downloaded ALL the content of extra, community, and core repos and dumped it into /var/cache/pacman/pkg so that pacman works "out of the box"...   may this be the "problem"...?

Re: util-linux-ng supersedes e2fsprogs...

pacman always works out of the box, but the box needs an internet connection. smile

Seriously, though - by downloading the repos, you have taken a snapshot, which does not reflect updates that have been made since your download. In this case, you probably have util-linux-ng 2.16-1, which conflicts with any version of e2fsprogs older than 1.41.8-2.

For best results, you should use pacman, and Arch in general, the way it is meant to be used.
