Hello everyone. I'd like to request someone package kwin-tiling to be included in AUR.
It's a work in progress and as such is available only via SVN. I don't have experience with SVN and also don't have access to the KDE repository (no account) so I'm requesting that someone create this package. Thank you in advance. Here is the important information:
Here is a look at what it does:
http://kodeclutz.blogspot.com/2009/08/t … st_24.html
Here is the link to the SVN location of the code:
https://svn.kde.org/home/kde/branches/work/kwin-tiling
The following may be helpful (found on the author's blog in response to a question about building http://kodeclutz.blogspot.com/2009/06/k … tions.html ):
"Hmm, did you check out the branch kwin-tiling ( https://svn.kde.org/home/kde/branches/work/kwin-tiling )? I don't know how merging from trunk is going to do it. I haven't modified any of the files you listed above and they aren't related to tiling, so I can't really help you with that, sorry.
If you did checkout the branch, do the following steps:
1. go to your kdebase/workspace/
2. rename kwin to kwin-trunk
3. create a soft link kwin-> kwin-tiling
4. then run make install from the root kdebase directory once. The thing is you always need to compile through kdebase. You can do cd kdebase/workspace/kwin and end up in kwin-tiling and then it will compile, but don't directly switch to kwin-tiling and run make install.
You probably already know this, but well, maybe it will help. It shouldn't take more than 40 minutes to compile kdebase"
Thanks guys!

(The installing) You are doing it wrong. Make install without creating an archlinux package ? No no. Installing programs must always be done through a package, not like that.

flamelab: thank you for responding so quickly to my request. However, it seems you misunderstood the information I included. Notice that I am quoting something I read on a blog (I was not the person with the build issue requesting help). I simply included that quote because it seemed to give inside from the author of kwin-tiling as to how the software should be compiled & installed which we could do in a fakeroot prior to creating the package. I am unable to do so myself because of the reasons I stated previously.
Thanks!
