Sagem XG-703A USB Wireless Dongle Install Problem

Hi,

First post and new on linux ....
Have done a install of Archlinux 2009.08 via CDROM on an old pc
motherboard:Gigabyte 6BX7+
CPU:Celeron 500
Storage:Hitachi 4g CF

I have a Sagem XG-703A USB Wireless Dongle plug on
But I don't know what to do next...

what I've done:
1.uninstall ndiswrapper
2.download firmware http://jbnote.free.fr/prism54usb/data/f … .5.8.0.arm ,and rename it as "isl3887usb_bare" ,copy it into /lib/firmware
3.add "ndiswrapper" into mod_blacklist and "p54usb" into modules
4.reboot

but it doesn't work still

Re: Sagem XG-703A USB Wireless Dongle Install Problem

Well thats a reallt weird problem...
From what I understood you need ndiswrapper to run the wireless card. Is it posible to do it natively. Its been a while since I've used ndiswrapper but it seems the kernel is already recognising the wireless card. Uninstall ndiswrapper and see if the system does load it manually. Otherwise I would recomend you post this on the ndiswrapper forums.
