Wlan0 device doesn't exist while using NDISWRAPPER with WG311v3

Hi, I just installed Arch on this computer(I have used Arch successfully before, however, this computer is new to it) and I can't seem to get Wireless working(Yes I used the wiki, yes I googled, yes I did alllll "the usual"). Wlan0 isn't showing up on iwconfig, eth0 seems to have no wireless extensions, also there are no more "devices" listed. Using ifconfig wlan0 up doesn't work because the device isn't found. However the device does show up in lspci, it's shown as "installed and present" in ndiswrapper -l, ndiswrapper's entry does exist in lsmod also. I can't seem to figure out the issue.

I'm running Arch64, straight off the 2009.08 disk(haven't had the chance to upgrade my packages through pacman -Syu yet because of no internet), I'm also using a NetGear WG311v3 with some x64 drivers I found on their website, which work on the Windows 7 x64 RC quite well(aside from some Windows-related driver signing crap, but that is another story).

Re: Wlan0 device doesn't exist while using NDISWRAPPER with WG311v3

I am in the exact same situation.  I am using a Netgear WG311v3 PCI wireless card with arch x86_64 and cannot get the device to work with ndiswrapper.  I have tried several different windows drivers from netgear and marvel (the chipset is marvel 88w8835).  The output of ndiswrapper -l shows the driver succesfully installed, but no devices with wireless extensions show up with iwconfig.

I couldn't ever get it to work unfortunately :S ndiswrapper just didn't seem to like the x64 bit drivers I threw at it. If someone comes up with a solution I'd be glad, though I already had to buy a new wireless USB card..

hmm buying a different adapter isnt really an option for me right now.  I guess Im back to the vista partition until this gets resolved.
