ALSA -> Cell Phone

Would it be possible to direct my ALSA to a cell phone?

I guess you'd need to have a server that was connected to the cell phone networks but besides that wouldn't it be possible?

Has anyone heard of something like this?

Re: ALSA -> Cell Phone

If this is for playing music remotely I would install mpd+icecast for that.  the latency and jitters will be really bad with the phone.

Icecast would be best, I agree.
The other option is Pulseaudio but that's only if the phone can use it, which I doubt.

Re: ALSA -> Cell Phone

My Nokia has support for uPnP so it can play music from my MediaTomb server (originally I built it for PS3) trough wlan even though i think Nokia meant to play music FROM the phone to uPnP stereo etc.

You could have analog modem in your computer and you could probably use it by calling to your computer but that wouldn't provide very good sound quality since only 350-1650Hz are transferred in voice calls... If thats even what you asked.

Re: ALSA -> Cell Phone

Well I've got Verizon and they're pretty bad at allowing you to do that kind of stuff.
