Hi,
My disk has started making two vibrating noises everytime I open or close a program or press save button and sometimes randomly.
It's like "brrrrp brrrrp" and each noise is about half a second long and it is very annoying. The sound is identical every time.
It has been doing it for approximately a week and this morning I took the disk out of the computer and dropped it on a matt in the hope that the impact would fix it and the noise is still there although it sounds higher pitched.
Please tell me how I can stop it from making the noise thanks.

Yeah it's in a raid array so I won't lose data but the noise is very annoying .
I've worked out that it only makes the noise on writes, not reads.

1. Backup
2. Install smartmontools and check to see what's up with the drive
3. Replace it

Since you're in a RAID (assuming mirrored) you should probably RMA the disc in question ASAP.

Thanks I replaced the disk.
