Gnome not Complete

I have AL 0.5 installed and currently using WindowMaker and everything is going fine. Now when I try to use .xinitrc to have Gnome as the default DE and I run startx, Gnome begins to load and I see the Splashscreen, but after that, error messages pop up about no themes, panels and some other items, which I can't remember right now. After it completes all I have is a blank gnome desktop, right clicking and left clicking the mouse doesn't bring up any menus.

Any ideas why this is happening and how can I fix it?

Thnx.

Re: Gnome not Complete

well i don't know how you installed gnome or what you installed in the way of gnome packages. but you could:

run abs

cd /usr/abs/gnome

su

pacman -Sy `/bin/ls` (note those are forward quotes)

this will install all gnome pakages.

Re: Gnome not Complete

Thanks Sarah, that fixed it. Also, I seem to have sound working while using Gnome. I do have KDE installed but never tried sound while using it. But WindowMaker was my default environment and it seems that sound wouldn't work for some reason.

But now I have sound and Gnome installed and I kinda like gnome more & more as I use it.

Thnx. again!

Re: Gnome not Complete

no problem.

xfce4 in unstable is pretty nice too i just switched to it yesterday. don't let the unstable placement fool you it is pretty darn stable and is only in the unstable repository because it is still in rc releases and not full stable releaes by the developers.
