creating an asound.conf disables gnome event sounds

Hi,
I was trying to use the ladspa equalizer, and configure system-wide use of the equalizer with alsa.
The problem is, as soon as i create an asound.conf file, the gnome-event sounds go away. If i delete the conf file, they return back.
Could anyone care to explain what's happening here?

Thanks!:)

Re: creating an asound.conf disables gnome event sounds

Your conf file is invalid, so ALSA is moaning about the error. Debug it:

speaker-test -D default -c 2 -t wav
