Hi to all,
i´m new Arch user, i made a netinstall on a laptop, it´s new and comes with Vista. I don´t want to overwrite the ntloader so i install GRub on the Arch partition. i show you mY partition scheme:
sda
(unallocated 1M)
sda1 (PQSERVICE 8Gb) Primary
sda2 (ACER Syste Partition 140Gb) Primary
sda3 (Data partition 100Gb) Primary
sda4 (Extended Partition)
sda5 (/ for Arch) ext4
sda6 (swap for Arch)
I have a Grub installed on a pendrive working to boot with my other linux Ubuntu) installation, on a desktop.
So i add the line for Arch to my menu.lst on the pendrive usb. like that
tittle Arch
root (hd1,4)
kernel /boot......by-uuid....
initrd /boot/kernel26.img
Well, Grub appears, then go to partition (hd1,4), recognize the partition like a linux 83, and stops. I think is not loading the kernel, i don´t know why.
do i have to put something on the Pendrive menu.lst (like chainloader or something like that)?, to say pendrive Grub to load the Arch Grub.
thanks

If you want to boot from /dev/sda, isn't that (hd0,n)?

solved copying vmlinuz26 and kernel26.img from boot folder of arch partition to boot folder of pendrive.
delete root (hd1,4) line from grub on pendrive
Anyway, now it's working, i don' t know why not works before.
I forgot to explain, arch installation in only on 2 partitions 1 /, and ther for swap. The / partition is on ext4, perhaps that' s the problem.
thanks
