Hello all,
Just had an unpleasant experience ^u^
ejabberd, the jabber server, doesn't yet support Erlang 13B or higher [1]. When running a routine system upgrade today I was given the latest version of Erlang and no-one was able to log into my ejabberd server any more. ejabberd will start and run, but nothing will be written to the logs and it refuses connections. I tracked down a copy of the previous version (erlang-R12B.5-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz), force-removed 13B and reinstalled 12.5B and all is working as before.
For the time being I've added Erlang to my IgnoredPkg entry in pacman.conf.
Figured I'd post so others with the same problem won't have to dig around to find the solution.

It would be even better to file a bug report so it actually gets fixed...

I wasn't sure the bug tracker was the right place for it as the ejabberd developers themselves say Erlang R13B isn't supported yet. Was more of a "letting you know" post. I can still submit a bug if you think that would be best though?

Is that the reason why we still have R13B in repos while there is R13B02-1?
Added: I'm using Erlang a lot this year, but it isn't always possible to go with the latest version where bugs I've reported are fixed. It makes me unhappy ![]()
