Where do you find all these neat kernel patches?

So, now I'm excited about kernel compilation and I want to spin a few kernels with different patches to see which, if any, increase my desktop performance.

I did a google search on a few popular patches just to see what they do and where to get the files, but I'm coming up empty...

I looked for the zen patch and the mm patch. I found zen-sources, which is just a whole kernel, which is not what I want. And I found the mm files, but I don't know what they do...

I just want to know what patches do what to the kernel and why I should use them!

I know you have found them, but for other peoples reference:

Also, note that many of those will have PKGBUILDs in the AUR.
