hello i seem to be having troubles with my xorg.conf file.
Im trying to set my resolution
which is
1680x1050
here is the link to the exact monitor im using
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SyncMaste … B0013PSOT0
here is a paste bin of my xorg.conf output
My graphics card is a
Nvidia Corperation NV28GL (Quadro 980 XGL) (rev a1)
I got that from lspci | grep VGA
thanks for the help appreciate it.
And i also ran Xorg -config and nvidia-xconfig
not sure why i did not fix anything.
Isnt the configuration supposed to preconfigure the monitor for you?

You really need to work on setting more informative titles in your posts.... Use the Edit link on the bottom right of your post.

Change the thread title please.

That Q for the thread post was an accident. Sorry about that. I didnt even realize it said Q for the thread title, i put something in there and saved it and it must have changed it to Q for some reason. Sorry for the confusion.

Hmm....
(II) LoadModule: "nv"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module nv
(II) UnloadModule: "nv"
(EE) Failed to load module "nv" (module does not exist, 0)
(II) LoadModule: "vesa"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//vesa_drv.so
(II) Module vesa: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.6.0, module version = 2.2.0
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 5.0
It seems you are using the vesa driver.

Can you explicitly set the resolution?
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1680x1050"
EndSubSection

Not sure why its not showing full screen since i installed the nvidia drivers.

have you tried removing the vesa module and inserting the nvidia one to see what happens??

So you used # pacman -Sy nvidia-96xx not pacman -Sy nvidia for your card? Once you have your xorg setup so it works the way you want it,you may want to consider adding nvidia-96xx nvidia-utils xerver-xorg to the IgnorePkg line in /etc/pacman.conf. This way a future upgrade won't disturb those working settings.
